Brief	To develop and supply a results collection file which remote users can complete and submit showing the results of sporting competitions. To allow certain elements of the results to be partially validated before submission.
Description	We developed a branded Excel file into which users enter details of one or more sporting events. The user enters venue details, selects an event from a list hidden in the file, then keys or pastes performance details into an appropriately generated data sheet.

Details	The system we developed was a stand-alone Excel file, which interacts with, and complements, a Windows application designed to process the data. Users at sporting occasions enter details of the meeting (venue, date, type) and then select a sheet type appropriate to the meeting type (e.g.track or road). The sheet selected will allow the users to enter an athlete’s name, gender, performance, positions (overall, in gender and in age group), performance or timeand any other necessary data, e.g. wind speed. The sheet is then validated, whereby all the data entered is checked against the rules embedded into the Excel cell validation. Once checked and validated, the file is sent to head office where the data is imported into the main result processing application. See separate example for more information.
