Brief	To develop an application to assign delivery times to lorries arriving with printed inserts that are to be inserted into magazines after printing. The system also ensures that all inserts required for a given publication/date are delivered and ready for inclusion.
Description	We developed an application which allows users to add details of inserts required for a particular publication and issue date. Because the company has limited goods receiving capacity, each delivery of inserts is assigned a date and time for delivery. Reports on delivered and outstanding inserts are used by staff to ensure deadlines are not missed.
Platform	VB6 and then ported to VB in Visual Studio 2005
Details	This was our first VB6 application of significant size, and comprised two elements. The first element was a pair of screens in which users could add details of inserts required against publication name and issue date. Each requirement was split into a number of delivery timeslots. This data was then presented in a grid format with colour coding for the status of each delivery timeslot. The second element was for managing timeslots for the despatch of finished magazines – replacing an old Access application developed in-house many years previously. The data for this was entered and displayed in a similar way.
